Current Project Status
The design for Phase 1 of this project (refer to map below) was substantially complete Fall 2023; however, the initial planned approach with regard to water services replacement would have resulted in the removal and/or root damage to a substantial number of old-growth trees in this nearly 60 year-old neighborhood. Therefore, the design was revised such that water service replacements should not have these tree impacts. The revised design was advertised for construction May 2024, bids were received in July, and contractor procurement is nearing completion. Construction will start Spring 2025 because replacing these water mains requires a temporary water main bypass system, which can only be performed during non-freezing weather (approximately April 1 through Nov. 15th). Under these constraints the construction of Phase 1 should be substantially complete Fall 2025.
The design of Phase 2 is nearing 90% completion with an expected advertisement in the summer of 2025. The sequencing of construction activities for this phase has not yet been completed and as such at this time it is undetermined if construction will start in 2025 or early 2026 for the same seasonal reasons described above for Phase 1. Construction of both phases in expected to be complete by the fall of 2026.
Community Update Plan
It is and always was our plan to conduct a community meeting 30 to 45 days in advance of the start of construction. At that time, we will have relevant and up-to-date information on the planned start of construction date, the planned sequencing of construction (i.e. the order in which streets will be worked on), and be able to provide answer related to the project team that will manage and perform the work.
