HEALTHY PARKS, HEALTHY PEOPLE July Programs

This month’s programming at Patapsco Valley.

In the event of inclement weather, last-minute cancellations may occur. Unless otherwise noted, please email Alyssa Myers with any questions.

Reminders: Dress for the activity/weather, wear sunscreen and insect repellant, bring plenty of water and snacks, and remember to check for ticks.



 

Mondays: Hike for your Health 10 a.m.-Noon

Get outside, get moving and get healthy! Hikes will vary in difficulty and length. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

  1. July 2 at Hilton: 3-mile loop incorporating Forest Glen, Sawmill and Buzzards Rock

  2. July 9 at Headquarters: 3.5-mile Ole Ranger Trail Loop

  3. July 16 at McKeldin: 2-mile Switchback and Tall Poplar trails

  4. July 23 at Headquarters: 4 miles to Hollofield Station and back



 

Tuesdays: Family Fitness 10-11 a.m. at Hilton, Shelter 245 (Shine only)

Start your week off right! Enjoy some light stretching and plyometrics before a brisk walk on a trail or around the day use area.



 

Fridays: Hiking Meetup  Noon-1 p.m. at Headquarters (Shine only)

Come meet others looking to get outside for a self-guided lunchtime refresh. Grab a map and head out for an easy hike around Peaceful Pond to reset before the weekend.

Attention Shutterbugs! The Maryland Natural Resource Photo Contest is underway. We’re accepting entries of birds, flora, insects, landscapes, recreation, weather and wildlife now through Aug. 31. Show us what you’ve got!
