The Ellicott City Partnership is accepting donations online and collecting volunteer information. Funds will go towards Ellicott City residents and small businesses.Although volunteers are not yet needed for physical work, you can also fill out an online form at this site with your contact information and availability. www.HelpEllicottCity.org
United Way of Central Maryland: The United Way has generously agreed to accept the community’s outpourings of monetary support to assist Ellicott City and established a fund to provide humanitarian relief. Visit www.uwcm.org/ecstrong to donate or text ECStrong to 51555 to donate.
The Howard County Food Bank is also accepting food and monetary donations for displaced residents. Donations may be restricted to flood victims. Drop off donations at the Food Bank between 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Visit www.cac-hc.org/food-donations-flood-victims
Items in heavy demand are:
- High protein canned meals w/ pop tops (ravioli, spaghetti, soups; tuna, salmon, chicken)
- Single-serve, ready to eat breakfast, snack, or energy bars
- Paper plates, napkins, plastic forks and spoons
- Diapers and baby food products
- No water needed
(From the County Executive’s office, August 5): Volunteers to assist with damage clean up from the Ellicott City flood will be allowed into limited areas with staff supervision on west Main Street and one parking lot at the bottom of Ellicott Mills Drive. Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will have staff available at the #ECStrong Volunteer Reception Center: parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter at 3200 North Ridge Road in Ellicott City, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Volunteers must bring a photo I.D. and can register in person at the Volunteer Center.
Recreation and Parks’ staff will be working through lists of people who have already registered, but may not have jobs available immediately. Many who have already registered will be contacted by staff about potential job assignments as they come up. If you are not contacted and still wish to volunteer, please visit the Volunteer Reception Center in the Walmart parking lot.
Important: All volunteers and groups should check in at the Volunteer Reception Center. Do not go directly to the restricted area.
Grassroots is accepting financial contributions to provide emergency motel shelter to individuals and families who have become temporarily homeless. Donate on their website.
The Community Foundation of Howard County: Community Relief Fund
Intended to compliment the work of organizations that meet the unmet immediate needs as well as unmet intermediate and longer term needs that are not covered by insurance or other government programs.
Re-create: Ellicott City Artist Relief Fund
The Howard County Arts Council has established a fund to assist displaced artists. Individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations will be able to apply for emergency funding to help re-establish their capacity to live and work. Funding guidelines and applications will be available soon. Visit the Howard County Center for the Arts to see the Paint It!
