You may have noticed that there is a drainage issue around Proudfoot Pond. CA is aware of the problem and is working on solutions. The short term solution is to pump the pond down, which has been scheduled for this coming Saturday morning, weather permitting. The mid-term solution will be a new “temporary” drain, which requires opening up a small section of pathway, installing a new drain pipe, and repairing the pathway. This has been scheduled for the first full week in January, weather permitting. CA is working with Howard County on the longer term solution, which will convert the pond and dam to a stream, with a small section of bridge to maintain pathway continuity. The longer term solution is likely 2 years out, based on construction document development and permit processing
This pond used to be a haven for ducks and geese during the summer months.
The residents over the years had planted lilies, daffodils etc over the years.
Could it not be dredged and an aerator to keep it usable by the wild life.
We have always enjoyed walking by it for the past 30 years. A stream wouldn’t be the same.
